Once again, sleep hasn't featured heavily tonight.
Am I keeping myself up? Probably, but that's beside the point.
The thing is, why do we have to sleep when we're told? Surely if the world was more flexible in many, many ways we'd be happier. It could be said that the reason we sleep at night is because you can see what you're doing during the day - i.e. you can't farm, trade, or read in the dark. Yes, I am lumping mankinds ills on post-hunter-gatherer society.
But, I suppose, everything's headed somewhere good, isn't it?
I'll class this as "dog-tired thoughts"

I may not sleep tonight!
There were a bunch of people a while back who were trying to start "world time" or "internet time" who had a similar theory. I think Swatch got involved at one point.
Although I read about a study that suggested sleeping with light on can cause problems and not having bright light about when you wake up contributes to the problem. Obviously you could solve this problem with a very dark room and artificial lights at night, but sunlight is good for you, so I'm not sure it would be a good long-term solution.
This isn't the study I was thinking of, but I think it's a similar kind of thing..
Sir Tobias of Wan, greetings
I regret that I was not aware of this reply when it was writ by the writter, the aforementioned sir Tobias.
I regret furthermore that I havn't slept and it is now gone 9 in the morning, and have developed a recent obsession with mediaeval words and such. Verily.
I am aware of these problems, and the fact that I was awake all night and can't stop writing like a bizarre cross between a lawyer and an Arthurian knight gives evidence to the aforementioned problems.
Indeedly me,
Sam of fiSh
