Revoo
Album: Sigh No More
Artist: Mumford & Sons
Genre: Folk, Bluegrass, Blues, Indie Folk, Folk Rock, Rock, Indie Rock, Country
Year: 2009
Tracks: 12
Rating: *****
This album is amazing! It's like an interesting Jack Johnson [:P] or a ZZ Top who've stopped with the badass, got a banjo player, shaved, and found religion. Yes, the lyrics are extremely God-laden throughout, with references from Genesis to Revelation via the Gospels (yes that is how you always get there, but saying from blaah to shtoo via piffk sounds uber fancy), and this is what, for me, makes it so damned good. Speaking as a cogneur de bible, this album seems to be spouting truths left, right, and centre, about God, yes, but also about romantic/erotic love, and life in general.
The music is superb, varying from mellow, simplistic melodies with low-key vocals to busy, frenzied, banjo ridden explosions of noise that inspire disbelief - these are four people playing, yet it sounds like a whole hick horchestra has joined in the fun.
Picks: This one is hard. I'd say the titular track Sigh No More because of the final stanza; I Gave You All is pretty damned passionate; Dust Bowl Dance is fantastic in it's judgement day refrain, "There will come a time I will look in your eye/You will pray to the God that you always denied/The I'll go out back and I'll get my gun/I'll say, "You haven't met me, I am the only son""; Little Lion Man, one of the singles, for the machine gun recital of the verses; and finally Winter Winds, the other single, for the simplistic and almost britpop-esque nature of the lyrics and the cheerful boisterousness of the brass-led chorus.

Insomnia
Once again, sleep hasn't featured heavily tonight.
Am I keeping myself up? Probably, but that's beside the point.
The thing is, why do we have to sleep when we're told? Surely if the world was more flexible in many, many ways we'd be happier. It could be said that the reason we sleep at night is because you can see what you're doing during the day - i.e. you can't farm, trade, or read in the dark. Yes, I am lumping mankinds ills on post-hunter-gatherer society.
But, I suppose, everything's headed somewhere good, isn't it?
I'll class this as "dog-tired thoughts"

I wandered lonely as a clowd
What an awful poem is 'daffodils' - how can you write a poem about flowers? total waste of ink. as I see it, the only good poetry is that which is real - based on what is actually being felt by the writer, coming straight from the heart to the page. or screen, in my case. people like john donne are worse - assuming characters within poems, so that the poem becomes something that would be better suited as a play or short story.
Did I just say I was a better poet than two of the most famous english poets? maybe, but fame doesn't equal talent - look at kerry katona
Don't get me started on shakespeare...

No Line on The Horizon? No end to disappointing albums, more like
No line on the horizon? no end to disappointing albums, more like.
Get your act together, bono, edge, larry, and adam.
Let's look at the record:
Boy - one of the greatest first albums of all time
October - the album that cemented u2 as a legitimate outfit
War - the album that propelled u2 to famousity
Under a blood red sky - the album that proved u2 could do the whole massive concert thing
Unforgettable fire - showed that u2 could think outside the box
Joshua tree - a groundbreaking album, and not only for u2, but for rock as a genre
Rattle and hum - 4 boys from ireland playing music from n'orleans? fantastic
Achtung baby - passionate rock with that same "outside the box" feel of unforgettable fire
Zooropa - experimental and weird, ft. johnny cash on the last track
Pop - losing it a bit, but still as warm as anything before it
All that you can't leave behind - truly pop music, with a sound too clean to have any warmth
How to dismantle an atomic bomb - 1 or 2 great songs, yet still lacking the warm sound of achtung and joshua tree
No line on the horizon - another long title, annoying in that the music is a vehicle for bono, not an integral part at all. again so clean cut and cold as to have all the charm of a small piece of graphite
Don't agree? listen to "the fly", then listen to "breathe", or even "new york", or "love and peace or else", and then come back to me. still don't agree? meh.

A SamfiSh
P.S. this was originally going to be just the title, then it was just gonna be the title and the title repeated. I got carried away somewhat...

LAZARUS
I made a new blog, with a clear cut subject and relevancy! http://lazobeth.blogspot.com/ (it's the theology 1 btw)
Yeah my book failed...
:(
But now we've reformed the band! this time it can't fail!
My laptop died again this morning, but I fixed it, somehow. technology sucks, eh? I mean, data's control panel never crashes! I want technology to be like that, except with better graphics - I mean, 24th century and a 2d screen? get realistic, mr. Roddenberry jr., come on.

Yet another...
I seem to fail at schemes and projects too much: my first book failed. my second book failed. my band failed. my round-world trip: failed. my Liberty Squad! comic book/book/graphic novel/webcomic/movie/comedy central animated\live action t.v. show/[adult swim] section failed. even my first blog failed. this puts me on shaky ground with...
My new book! it's fantasy, and a silmarillion/lotr/magician's nephew/bible kinda jazz. it's called 'Stories from Sen', and it's epic. like all kinds of good. or at least I think so. I've written the first 2 chapters of the first story, and its tired me out.
Is my blog too much based on that of Tobiwan? if so, non-existent reader of these tales, please let me know.
Thankee muchly.

P.S. if there are any readers: so not cool! leave a damned comment once in a while!

Crabs
are very wierd. like spiders what have armour and live under the sea and can breath in the water and walk all sidewards.
From crabs to
Mud. Which is what I have all on my trousers, on account of me doing the commando crawl on north field. CTF!
Mud is a colloquial term for coffee. coffee is drunk by silly american folks and intelligent french folks instead of tea. tea is what I had a very nice cup of this week. I think it had cream or full fat-milk in so it was very tasty.
Also when I was where I was when I was a-drinking of the very nice tea (dolly's diner on station road, longfield) I had my over the shoulder bag, fingerless (g)loves, long studenty hair, a book with lenin on the cover and a petrol can. I may be paranoid, but I was getting some funny looks and some people may have thought I was some sort of communist rebel, out to arson some stuffs. like communist rebels do? it's a fairly traditional diner: a bloke and a lady equivalentofabloke; tea; coffee; full english all day breffist; white van men etc., but it seems to be run by near eastern folks. not that I'm saying there's 'out wrong with near eastern folk. it does seem a bit odd though.
Liberty Squad is gonna be awxsome...

Song-Sang ling-a-sing
Songwriting is sexyfuntimes. which is not necessarily as sexy as it sounds
anyway, I had all the fun writing some toon into this song that I wrote. which is the second song writ by me to have been tooned by this SamfiSh. good times. their titles are I can hear the thunder and either when I wake or dance forever. good songs methinks, even if it's me saying the words that I just said. wrote. which I'm pretty sure I just did. possibly.
Insanity aside, here comes a quote.
“The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success"
that didn't go so well.
Who knows where I'll be in 10 years? married, childeren? 10 years ago I was six, and I can't remember being six, which is odd, as I can remember being four. I can also remember which day finding nemo opened. it was a friday. anyhoo, my point is this: I know people who are 26ish, and some are all married and parents, and some are not: which one will I be when I'm that age? the happy-baby-wifey type, or the happy-single-childless type? does it matter? I would like to be the former, but am I more suited to the latter, and due to have childs later on?
I know the answer: meh. it doesn't matter. whats going to happen is going to happen, so I'll just see what happens. if it happens. if not, well, obviously it wasn't supposed to happen.
I would say a certain spanish phrase, but then I'd have to take out a contract killing on myself.
I rode to longfield in under 15 minutes!!! it was quick indeed.

I think I have no readers because I am so high up on the blogosphere that there is only air enough for one, so as any who try to reach my great heights perish as they reach the peak of blogging that is my tales..., and fall back down to the ground as lifeless shapes, hitting the other blogs on the way down, until they reach the 'real world', and return to their lives, and meet a nice girl, and have a nice family, etc. so really, my blog has no readers because it's doing the world a great service...
Or!!
it has no readers because it is relatively new, updated sporadically, and has no clear subject matter, and isn't all that good, and there are too many 'ands' in lists.
I'll take box number 1, please, noel.
Oh vamlumumtimenes, love, etc. why, just why do we celebrate the assigned day of memory of two martyrdoms with lovey stuff?
Why indeed?
Better, in fact, to celebrate your love/my love/love/glove(s) everyday. don't you think so too?
After all, as mark knopfler famously sung: 'hey now, my boyfriend's back'. poignant, to say the least.

Brokeded
I dropped my lappy!
he's dead! (unless you count the monitor I've hooked it up to, and the fact the the hard drive is 100% ok, and also that I've transferred all of my documents onto a flash drive). also my watch strap broke! and I lost my bus ticket so had to pay £7.60 in total for a service that is crap and should have cost a maximum of £5.20!
Enough exclaiming...
We played 'sociological terms hangman' in sociology though, on account of half the class was missing and it was the last day of school.
I had some ill-advised red bull at an ill-advised time, so I's gonna be awake for ages tonight.
Also I somehow spent twenty odd pounds today, overstepping my budget by a fiver. which could be lowered by 2.60 if i was guaranteed a lift every day. which I'm not.
So today was mostly a ladydog, with some funtimes.
When the frick is heroes coming back? the BBC is/are (a) dastard(s)[delete as appropriate]. which is much less rude than it sounds.
